Næsehorn jagt i Sydafrika
Det er glædeligt at vi nu kan konstatere at legal jagt på det hvide næsehorn er muligt. Næsehorn bestanden har i mange år ligget under grænsen for at der kunne tillades legal jagt på dette fantastiske dyr.

Omvendt har krybskytteri, med formålet at skaffe næsehornpulver, der i østen anses for at styrke potensen, været meget udbredt. I de fattige afrikanske lande har næsehornet været opfattet som en slags omvandrende lotto gevinst og har derfor være meget efterstræbt.

Det hvide næsehorn er nu - heldigvis - igen udbredt og bestanden kan tåle en lille afskydning.

Der tager jagtmagasinet vist grundigt fejl! Det hvide näsehorn har i Sydafrika väret jagtbart i årevis - men jeg har hört at det sorte näsehorn nu også har opnået en bestandsstörrelse, der tillader en stärkt begränset jagt - så mon ikke der menes "sort"!?

Assumption is the mother of all ****ups... og skånegripen er en bald eagle!...og...det er muligt, at jeg ændrer holdning, men det rokker IKKE ved det faktum, at jeg har ret! Og jo - jeg har mine problemer med det modsatte af kön....

Så kræver det sikkert masser af sorte penge []

South Africa Black Rhino Hunt - $156,950
This is the first time in over 30 years that the Black Rhino has been huntable. A testimony to the hard work of the hunting community to bring these magnificient animals back from near extinction.

3 Rhino bulls to choose from on 25,000 acres. There are 29 Black Rhino and 256 White Rhino on the hunting property.

American hunters can expect a fight from Anti-hunters regarding trophy importation permits. Of course that doesn't affect the hunt or having a trophy replica made, just importation of the actual rhino.

John Jackson of Conservation Force has this to say "Conservation Force will assist anyone in trying and until and unless an import permit is filed, it can't be denied or tested, or litigated, et al. Conservation Force has been working and preparing for years for this. It's time to force the issue or the antis win by our default."

Martin Brooks, chairman of the World Conservation Union's African Rhino Specialists Group, says controlled hunting of Southern African white rhino encouraged private land owners to stock their land with the large grazer, helping to pull the species from near extinction. Today there are more than 11,000 of the animals in the world, more than 10,000 of which are in South Africa. About 20 percent of South Africa's white rhinos live on private land, where strictly controlled hunting is allowed on a permit basis.

In contrast, black rhinos, which eat trees rather than grass, have made a slower recovery and there are only an estimated 3,610 in the world. According to the International Rhino Foundation, black rhino populations declined 92 percent between 1970 and 1992, hitting a low of 2,300 in 1992. South Africa wants to allow five to be hunted each year.

White rhinos can bring $30,000 in trophy rights, plus the cost of the safari and daily hunting fees. Black rhinos could bring an estimated $200,000 each, say hunting organizations.
