ANOKA, Minn. – April 4, 2006 – When Federal Premium® Mag-Shok™ Turkey loads were introduced with the FLITECONTROL™ wad system last year they revolutionized the turkey shell. Available in both lead and HEAVYWEIGHT™ 12-gauge offerings, these loads astounded turkey hunters with their unbelievably tight patterns.

For 2006, those in pursuit of old Tom will have several more options as they take the field. No longer is the chambering of the gun a limiting factor for turkey hunters. The same wad system that produces up to 30 percent tighter patterns is now available in 2-3/4-inch loads. In addition, the HEAVYWEIGHT loads will now be available in 3 and 3-1/2-inch #7 shot offerings.

As hunters and shooters found out last year, the revolutionary FLITECONTROL wad stays with shot longer, resulting in tighter patterns and more pellets on target. Also helping provide dense, tight and uniform patterns is the copper-plated, buffered shot in the lead loads.

HEAVYWEIGHT—the highest density shot ever to come out of a turkey gun, is 35 percent more dense than lead for tighter patterns and powerful penetration. The new #7 offering provides the energy comparable to that of #5 lead shot at 40 yards—with a far greater pellet count for maximum impact on target. No other turkey load is this lethal on birds.

“Turkey hunters this spring will definitely have several additional options sure to provide devastating performance in the field, “ said Rochelle Poore, Senior Shotshell Engineer. “With the new 2-3/4-inch loads, shooters can utilize the FLITECONTROL wad in high velocity options of #4, 5 and 6 lead—even if their gun isn’t chambered for 3 or 3-1/2 inch rounds. The #7 HEAVYWEIGHT, with round, uniform shot and granulated buffer for greater patterns, is sure to bring Tom down hard with a swarm of the densest shot ever to leave a shotgun muzzle.”
