When a new cartridge bears the names of two American shooting sports legends, it had better be something special. Hornady's new 375 Ruger is just that!
This newly designed powerhouse is slightly larger in diameter than the 30-06, but shares the same case overall length, which means it can be chambered in ANY standard length action. All this and it still out performs the 375 H&H but with a 20" barrel.

450/400 Nitro Express 3"

Legendary performance from a cartridge that could only be made today.

First developed in 1902 as an all-around African cartridge, the original 450/400 Nitro Express 3" ammunition propelled a 400 gr. bullet to a muzzle velocity of just over 2100 fps. Over 100 years later, our engineers have replicated this African legend using modern technology and manufacturing process to perfect it.

Loaded with either a 400 gr. RN expanding bullet or FMJ-RN Solid, the NEW Hornady 450/400 NE 3" cartridges are perfect for modern single-shot rifles and the ideal ammo for hippo, buffalo and other thick-skinned game. Great pains were taken to ensure that this ammunition will regulate in double rifles.

9.3 x 74R

A Classic Cartridge is Reborn!

Hornady is proud to announce the introduction of the 9.3 x 74R into the 2007 ammunition line up! Originally developed in Germany during the early 1900's, the 9.3 x 74R is one of the most elegant cartridges ever designed.

This new load features a 286 grain Spire Point-Recoil Proof bullet, loaded to original factory specifications and designed to regulate in doubles and drillings. This bullet is designed to deliver controlled expansion and devastating terminal performance on large and heavy game.

A high tech propellant was selected to provide maximum case fill for consistent ignition, while providing excellent temperature sensistivity in extreme climates. Hornady is manufacturing the cartridge cases for the 9.3 x 74R in-house to the same exacting tolerances of Hornady match brass-delivering consistency that can't be beat!

Lock-N-Load Precision Gauges

Lock-N-LoadTM O.A.L. Gauges

One of the best kept secrets in accurate reloading is precise bullet seating depth. Regulating seating depth and the resulting “jump” to the rifling is widely regarded as fundamental to improved accuracy. A few thousandths of an inch change between the bullet and the rifling can make the difference between just so-so accuracy and real tack-driver performance. The L-N-L O.A.L. Gauge is universally acclaimed as the most accurate, easy-to-use and reliable method of obtaining that critical relationship.

To use the L-N-L O.A.L. Gauge, you will need to purchase a Modified Case to fit your firearm’s chamber and thread it onto the Gauge. Hornady offers interchangeable Modified Cases in all common sizes from .17 Remington up to and including .45 Government. These specially prepared Modified Cases are threaded at the case-head and have a .002" oversized neck to accept the same bullets you intend to load. This is critical, as the L-N-L O.A.L. Gauge dimensions obtained will be accurate to .001". Results such as this cannot be attained with competitive products, which use a simulated bullet with an arbitrary shape.



Straight Model – For all bolt action and single-shot firearms, or any firearm with straight-line access to the chamber. This model is preferred, as it is most precise and user friendly. Item No. C1000
