Set your sights, take aim and win a Photography Seminar in South Africa! 05.05.2006
Swarovski Optik invites you to enter a major international photography competition. An international jury will award prizes for the photos and choose the "Digiscoper of the Year". The best 20 digiscoping photos submitted will be published by Swarovski Optik in the Digiscoping Yearbook 2007. In addition, the photographs will be mentioned by name and will receive a publication royalty. The three top prize winners will be invited to attend a digiscoping seminar in South Africa. The winners of places 1-20 will also receive an outdoor rucksack from Swarovski Optik's current accessoires range.
Digiscoping opens up new opportunities to nature observers for recording their observation experiences. In digiscoping the digital camera is mounted directly in front of the telescope - the telescope becomes a "telescopic lens". As a result it is possible to create photos with extraordinary pinpoint detail even at long distances and what's more, one doesn't need to be a professional to achieve good results. All that's required is good digiscoping equipment and basic knowledge of one's own digital camera and its use in conjunction with a telescope. Information on how to enter the competition
Closing date for submissions is 31 October 2006. All digital photographs which are taken with a commercially available telescope may be submitted online at http://www.swarovskioptik.com. It is important to provide every photo with a detailed description of the image. The jury's selection criteria are image sharpness, thematic relevance and the aesthetics of the image. Every submission has to be accompanied by a parallel photograph shot without telescope. Detailed entry conditions are available at digiscoping.swarovskioptik.com.
