Functionality, precision, sturdiness:
Here is the SO10, the latest jewel labeled Beretta.
Seventy years from the first modern Beretta over-and-under (the model S1 that was launched in 1933), a new true sidelock shotgun is born. The SO10 over-and-under: The deserving successor of the famous Beretta SO series hunting and competition shotguns that have earned their reputation, on the Olympic podium and on the most exclusive hunts in the world, from Europe to America to Africa, for being the most functional, elegant and exclusive over-and-unders in the world.
Drawing from this very long experience, and under the dedicated guidance of the Beretta family, the most gifted designers and gunsmiths of the company have created the new SO10 over-and-under, a synthesis of aesthetic refinement, function and performance that place it at the peak of the world’s prestigious over-and-under offerings.
Mirror-polish finishing with disappearing keys to remove hand-detachable sidelocks and cold-hammer forged demi-block barrels: these are just some of the features of the 20-gauge SO10.This new, sophisticated model that will add further luster to Beretta's lineup of luxury shotguns. As elegant as a musical instrument, light as an emotion, the highlight of this perfectly balanced gun is its functional strength, which guarantees impeccable performance. The precision is visible in even the smallest details.
The cartridges? The new SO10 has been designed for the use of 3 inch Magnums. The lock is especially sturdy, with the classic trapezoidal Beretta shoulders and the longitudinal bracket-between the barrels. The cold-hammered demi-block barrel tubes are the result of a painstaking working process; they are mechanically fastened and welded using an alloy with a low melting point thus ensuring a distortion-free result. Clearly visible beading highlights the new double-sea-shell profile on which the barrels are hinged. Visible screws and keys have been banished, meaning that the able (and creative) hands of master engravers work on a mirror-smooth finish. Equally practical are the classic Beretta side-locks, which can be dissembled by hand, with the help of two sturdy, fold-away keys. A valid alternative to the double-trigger is the single-trigger in titanium, selective or non-selective, at the discretion of the customer. And the same holds for the choice of chokes: new stainless steel optima-choke, or traditional fixed chokes. Finally, to showcase the care taken with every detail, a mirror-finish option is offered, in addition to the fully engraved version.
The exquisite engravings that decorate the Beretta SO10 over-and-under are completely hand executed by highly qualified Master Engravers. The absence of pins and screws on the surface of the receiver has given the Master Engraver an uninterrupted blank canvas on which to express his full creativity. When this work of art, created with the hammer and chisels is completed, the engraver's signature guarantees the status of the shotgun as a unique expression of the gunmaker's art. Six different engraving patterns are dedicated to the SO10 model.
