Weatherby® has expanded its offerings to hunters with the introduction of two new custom Vanguards® engineered for specific environments-the Sage Country for sparse, open prairie and the Back Country for high altitude hunting.
“No rifle is ideal for every hunt,” said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby‘s vice president of sales and marketing. “Our new Vanguard Sage Country and Back Country merge the quality and style synonymous with Weatherby, with custom touches that make them ideal for their respective environments. Both are covered by our accuracy guarantee, and have Weatherby looks and performance at a great value.“
Vanguard rifles are the only production rifles that come with a factory-shot target and accuracy guarantee of 1 1/2 inches or better 3-shot group at 100 yards with a cold barrel when used with premium (non-Weatherby calibers) or Weatherby factory ammunition.
Weatherby‘s Vanguard Sage Country has an injection molded stock with a Desert Camo finish. The rifle&qout;s matte black metalwork is paired with a 24-inch chrome moly barrel, eliminating game-spooking glare while improving accuracy. The Sage Country features a low-density, rubber recoil pad.
Designed for hunters trekking rough terrain in high altitudes, the Vanguard Back Country weighs in at a meager 6 3/4 pounds. The rifle&qout;s stainless steel metalwork and fluted barrel are bead blast to a matte finish, eliminating game-spooking glare while helping to resist the ill effects of rain or snow.
Pillar bedded for improved accuracy, the Back Country features an Ultralight composite stock. To reduce felt recoil, the stock is butted with a Pachmayr® Decelerator® pad.
Both models feature Weatherby’s famous Monte Carlo design for quick eye-to-scope alignment and faster target acquisition.
The rifles are available in right-hand models and measure approximately 44 or 44 1/2 inches (depending on caliber) in overall length. They have a length of pull of 13 5/8 inches. The Back Country®s drop at comb, 3/4 inch; drop at heel, 1 1/2 inches. The Sage Country‘s drop at comb, 7/8 inch; drop at heel 1 1/4.
The Vanguard Sage Country is available in a variety of calibers including .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, .270 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .257 Weatherby Magnum, .270 Winchester Short Magnum, 7mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Winchester Short Magnum, .300 Weatherby Magnum and .338 Winchester Magnum.
The Vanguard Back Country is available in .257 Weatherby Magnum, .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Weatherby Magnum.
