Blaser Magnum
New generation of cartridges by Blaser and Norma
7mm Blaser Magnum
.300 Blaser Magnum
.338 Blaser Magnum
.375 Blaser Magnum
In cooperation with Norma, Blaser has developed a brand new generation of high-performance cartridges. No existing calibres were copied. Instead, the latest ammunition technology was applied to achieve the optimum performance in each calibre group. A pleasant change in the history of ammunition: Both high-quality manufacturers were equally keen to avoid any compromises with the production of their joint venture.
The product development was determined by the following key factors:
notably increased precision values
higher performance in terms of energy and speed at low gas pressure
more comfortable recoil effects
enhanced reliability
perfectly suitable for reloading
Thanks to an optimised cartridge geometry, stable cartridge base and modern powder types together with 4-groove barrel profiles and adapted twist rates, all development objectives have been achieved.
To start with, Blaser will distribute loads with NolserAccubond and Barnes TSX cartridges whereas Norma will offer additional loads under their own company label.
All Blaser R93 models can now be ordered in the new calibres. Delivery of rifles and cartridges starts from August 2009.
A detailed brochure containing more information and specifications is available at Blaser from May 2009.
R93 iC Illumination Control
Blaser and Carl Zeiss revolutionise the operation of rifle and rifle scope
Is the rifle cocked, then the illuminated reticle is on. With the iC concept from the two innovation leaders Blaser and Carl Zeiss this is always the case. Activating the illuminated reticle in crucial moments can no longer be forgotten. For the first time, rifle and rifle scope are synchronised in their functions. In the same moment the hunter cocks the R93, the illuminated reticle of his Varipoint rifle scope switches on. A small magnetic encoder in the cocking slide of the R93 iC is connected to a sensor on the underside of the Varipoint ocular thus activating the illuminated reticle. This results in a calmer approach to the moment before the shot is taken.
The following situation is well known to many hunters on a driven hunt: when silently and unexpected a fox or wild boar comes into view, there is very little time to take the opportunity to shoot. The rifle is quickly mounted and aimed and then the shooter realises: the illuminated reticle is not on. Being irritated to such an extent, it is hardly possible to hit accurately. The same can also happen when hunting from a stand by night. With iC, events like this are a thing of the past: the hunter carefully mounts his rifle into the correct position, silently pushes the cocking slide forward and aims accurately thanks to the illuminated reticle which was automatically activated when cocking the rifle.
The advantages of the iC concept are crystal clear: even when being under great pressure, forgetting to switch on the illuminated reticle cannot occur anymore. Through the cocking slide, the illuminated reticle is illuminated and remains illuminated as long as the rifle is cocked, no matter in which position the control button on the rifle scope is adjusted. Thanks to the ergonomically favourable position of the cocking slide of the R93 iC, the trigger hand remains on the pistol grip, whereas the leading hand must no longer be removed from the forearm to switch on the illuminated reticle on the scope. Shooter, rifle and scope are connected as one unit.
The memory function which is integrated in the Varipoint iC ensures that the light intensity which has been adjusted last, is provided immediately. Independent from the position of the cocking slide, the light intensity is adjusted when the control button is pulled out and is saved when the button is pushed down.
Every R93 can quickly be retrofitted with the iC at an affordable price. The Blaser dealer sends the bolt assembly to the Blaser factory where the iC cocking slide can be fitted.
The new F3 “28 gauge”
Based on the successful F3 12 gauge and 20 gauge, Blaser has now developed a 28 gauge shotgun. Its low profile action enhances a perfect silhouette with its 28 gauge barrels. In accordance to the 12 and 20 gauge barrels, the 28 gauge barrel is also offered in Competition and Game models.
The USA are leading an international trend: in many competitions, most notably in Sporting, “28 gauge” disciplines are becoming more and more popular. Shooting 12 gauge, 20 gauge and 28 gauge disciplines with the same shotgun is a real benefit in competitions as the shooter does not have to switch between different barrel characteristics: the 28 gauge Competition barrel features the identical total weight, balance and rib as all the other F3 barrels.
Specifications of the F3 Competition in gauge 28:
Barrel length 76 cm (30”) and 81 cm (32”)
Tapered rib with HIVIZ® bead
Briley Spectrum chokes
Weight approx. 3.65 kg (8.0 lbs.) – 3.85 kg (8.5 lbs.)
Specifications of the F3 Game in gauge 28:
Barrel length 71 cm (28”)
8.5 mm parallel rib
Flush to muzzle Briley Spectrum chokes
Weight approx. 3.2 kg (7.0 lbs.)
