Hej Jens
Jeg vil give dig min mening af som .17HMR riflen jeg nu egen, men jeg
skal skrive i englisk sprog.[]
Jens...When the 17HMR came out roughly 4 to 5 years ago,I bought my 1st 17 off the net on Gunbroker.com. That rifle was a Marlin VS .17HMR as there was none available anywhere in the state where I live.Ammo was not to be found anywhere and I had a friend from the Chicago area find a few boxes for my new rifle.
Since that time,I now own 5 .17HMRs...call it a sickness[][].
Three are Marlin VS 17HMRs and 2 are Savage 17HMR with varmint weight barrels.
All 5 rifles are sighted in with a 75 yard zero..all are very accurate with bullet groups averaging under an inch easily at that range.
One thing I have noticed is the Marlins are a little more accurate than the Savages. Not by alot, maybe a 1/4inch or so..but still the Marlin Stainless/laminated stocked rifles are better.
Both Marlin and Savage have bad triggers..replacement triggers can be bought from Rifle Basics Company. The magasin on the Marlin can be a problem but I have used my Marlins enough to be awhere of the cartridge feeding issue and make sure my magasin snaps up into the receiver good. I think the problem was more of an issue when the rifle and clip where new.
A good friend of mine owns a CZ 452 i 17 HMR,that rifle is very accurate, but no more accurate than the Marlin from our observations at the range. He also owns a Ruger 77/22mag that he removed the pinned barrel and installed a Dan Lilja super match stainless .17HMR barrel..groups are bug hole at 100yds with that altered Ruger, but you got figure he has about 1000.00 USD into that rifle less the scope vs the Marlin at 320.00 USD.
We have also found through trying different 17 ammo..that hands down...the Hornady HMR .17 gr Varmint Express ammo was the most accurate i most of the 17s we own between myself and several shooting friends.
My humble opinion..buy the Marlin VS 917..Best bang for the penge![][]
