Load From A Disk
#1

Mvh.

Mikkel,

Load From a Disk always develops optimum loads based on an 80% - 90% load
density and a working pressure of 40,000 CUP to 50,000 CUP, based on input
information from the user. The powders LFDW picks (usually 5 to 10) meet
these criteria. If your favorite powder is not shown then it does not meet
the criteria shown above. The program contains a powder database of about 85
powders. Only a few powders can be used with any load combination because of
the reasons given above. This is discussed on page 49, question 6.0 in the
Instruction Manual and in our FAQ section at http://www.loadammo.com. The
Instruction Manual is included on the program disk. See the Startup Guide
that came with the program on how to access the Instruction Manual.

We have found that the optimal load data track very well with information
from loading manuals, keeping in mind that there are differences even
between manuals. Bullet seating depth and varying brass thickness can affect
the powder space and powder charge.

Regards,

Wayne Blackwell

Subject: Selecting powder

Hi,

I have just received the copy of Load From A Disk I have bought and have
tried to key my favorit load in. It is a 9,3x62 with Barnes TSX 250 grs
and Norma 202 powder. Things went well untill I wanted to select the
powder, but no Norma powder showed up on the list. What am I doing
wrong???

Mikkel

Hej yeti

Most likely the Disk people- http://www.loadammo.com - do not have Norma in their disk program. And I suspect the reason is because.. American shooters do not use much Norma powders,Vita Vouri powders are much more popular in the US and mostly with target and varmint shooters. Most guns-reloading stores don,t even have Norma products on the shelves in stock. Max could verifiy this when he was in several shooting-hunting stores last summer in the US.
Several reasons for this...
1...Norma is more expensive than say.. Hodgden,Accurate Arms,IMR ,Winchester powders etc..so American shooters buy those powders rather than Norma powders.

2...Norma may not be doing a good job in marketing their powders in the US,so shooters here don,t think to try their powders when doing their load developement for a given cartridge.

I have a hunch that the disk people when they made the reloading disk were thinking about American shooters and not European shooters so Norma powders got overlooked in the disk program.

Good luck with your e mails to http://www.loadammo.com ,they should be able to help you.

Just my 2 cents from accross the big pond....Eric

Hi Eric,

Oh yes but they do include Norma's powder. I did check that before I bought the program.

I have found out how it works. When you are building your load it will come up with typically 5-10 different powders that the program find optimal. You can then choose one of them at it will calculate the "optimal" load. This I find very useful when I have to figure out where to start my test load (and yes I could just look it up at one of the many sites like http://www.reloadersnest.com. For some reason LFAD just did not see Norma 202 as optimal for the load I tried to key into it - or any othe powders from Norma for that matter. I am sure that there still is some value in your point as I have a feeling that LFAD knows less about Norma powder than American powders, but it is just a feeling and time will have tell if it is right or completely off.

below you find the entire list of included powders

Hej igen der yeti

OK ...not familiar with your disk and Norma powders listed on it...but thought I would offer you some possible reasons why Norma powders are not popular over here. Good luck with your favorite load, looking at the line up of Norma powders-fast to slow burn rates, your 202 should be a good powder for the 9,3x62 cartridge.

Some years back,I used Norma MRP i 700 Remington rifle i 7mm Rem mag with good results but have no other experience with Norma powders.

Hodgdon,s H 4831 remains a favorite in my .270 and a 25-06 I have.
