My CAR has never been very accurate (its just not that sort of gun!)
I'm happy with it printing 5" "groups" at 100 yds, the gun was more accurate when new, according to the former owner
He told me that it had had around 10000 rounds through it and so far my family and I have fired at least another 10000, most of it full auto at the "Fun Shoots" I mostly use it to chew up old cars and the like :-) The gun still shoots to about 5" at 100 yds.

My two semi-autos are both custom jobs with stainless bull barrels one has a Hart 1-9 twist and shoots .7 MOA with 69 grn Sierras
It probably has around 2000 shots through it, so no telling there

The other AR is almost new, with a Blackstar barrel and maybe 200 rounds fired.

My personal theory about the long life of the service .223's is this:
Most of them fire only military surplus ball ammo, this is "soft" ammo for two reasons: The FMJ's have a relatively short bearing surface, and the military powder is heavily flame-retarded, which means it burns cooler. The short barrel of the CAR's also means shorter time for the powder to "burn" the barrel

I would say: Yes a CAR could probably shoot 100000 shots and still have a usable barrel! but what about all the other parts?
I have changed many of the little parts i my CAR, some of them several times!
