Welter Optics
#1
On a Hunting fair in Germany I saw Welter riflescopes and I was impressed by the way they look! they could be Schmidt&Bender Classic copies.

I noticed that these scopes are discussed a lot on Scandinavian forums, but unfortunately I don't master these languages.

Is there anyone who can comment on these scopes?
How good (or bad) are they compared to the German top brands?
How do they perform in poor light? (at night)
Are they Japanese made?

Any information is welcome!
Kind regards,
Reindeer.

Welter are cheap Chineese scopes.
You can NEVER compare them to Zeiss, Swarowski and S & B.
Not even to Bushnell or Leupold.

I have had one for 1 year now, it has been dooing the job. The one i got is nearly as good as my Zwarowski, but a lot less priced, and when it´s getting dark i never had a problem. But i cant´ speak for them in general because i have only tryed this one, any you need to test more of them to make a conclusion.
If you want to by the best on the marked you shuld go for Zeiss, Swarowski, S&B, Leupold ect. ect.

By the way it´s made in Japan.

By the way it's NOT. The scopes are chineese made. "Japaneese engineered" does not mean "made in Japan".

Geeez... I must lead a sheltered life..I've never heard of Welter
Optik.
At first glance..they sure look like a high dollar/kroner rifle scope
af German or Austrian manufacture. Even the navn logo on the scope is
similiar in style to a high grade Zeiss or S-B scope.

They (Welter scopes) also look similiar to the Pentax and Swift Optiks line of scopes, here in the US. You can see those optiks at http://www.EABCO.COM located in Alexandria,Minnesota

The older line of the Swift premier line of scopes from several år ago looks just like the scope pictured in this post.

That's the whole idea withe the Welter brand.
Looks and sounds like a German / Austrian scope.
But it don't perform like a German / Austrian scope, that's for sure [Big Grin]

And if anyone whant to try a Welter, I still have a few Welter Holosights they can buy very cheap [Smile]

I`ve been searching for a test, the only one I could find, was what the danish importer calls a big test :
http://www.2astro.dk/PDFfiler/Weltertest.pdf
Maybe it`s a big test, but they don`t use a lot of space to describe it[Wink]

The optics used in Pentax,Welter,Bushnell,Redfield,Swift,Leupold,Vortex,Weaver,
are all supplied from Japan.
You will not find any of this scope made that has optics fabricated in USA.

Does that mean that Leupold do not fabricate optics (lenses) what so ever within the borders of the U.S. ??

@Erik

Wind River are NOT a Leupold scope. It is a Wind River binocular sold through Leupold.

From Leupold answerbook:

The Leupold Answer Guide

Are the VX-II scopes American made?
All the Leupold scopes are American made.

Hej Erik
What I should of said is.......I have read somewhere that there is a Company i Japan that makes just optikal lens for many scope manufacturers. If I recall the navn was Asia Optical Company located i Japan, but I am not 100 % sure on that name..this company i Japan makes lens for Redfield,Weaver,Nightforce ,etc..
There are rumors floating around the various hunting og shooting forums here in the US that Leupold is buying lens from Japan..made to their specifications and used in the VX 1 line of Scopes. We are not talking the complete scope, just the lens.
I have read the same about the Zeiss Conquest line of scopes...
Japan for lens..rest of scope..parts from Germany and assembled i the US..no proof on the Leupold and Zeiss...it is just from what I have read on US forums...Eric

Og hvad skulle problemet være ved at få linser fra Japan - De er vel nærmest markedsledende på foto optik m.m. Så mon ikke de kan lave fin optik til en kikkert???
