Ruger Announces On-line Auctions of Collectible Ruger® Firearms and Accessories at www.rugerauction.com

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. is pleased to announce an unprecedented opportunity for collectors, arms historians, and those interested in Ruger® firearms to bid on and acquire rare, unusual, and one-of-a-kind Ruger firearms and accessories. An earlier press release inadvertently published an incorrect website address, which is actually www.rugerauction.com.
Ruger will begin on-line auctions of such items on May 15, 2007. The first auction will begin on that date and continue until May 29, 2007, when the highest bidder will be determined and notified. The next day, another item will go up for auction for a similar period, with its winner announced on June 12, 2007. It is anticipated that such auctions of rare and unusual Ruger firearms and accessories will occur every two weeks.
“This is an unbelievable opportunity,” said Ruger President Stephen L. Sanetti. “We’ve been going through our inventory and selecting some firearms we believe have unique collector appeal.”
“We want to offer these up to all American firearms enthusiasts interested in Ruger firearms.” Sanetti continued, “We thought the best way to do this was to conduct on-line auctions via the Ruger website http://www.rugerauction.com every 2 weeks.” Each gun will come with a Certificate of Authenticity, attesting to its provenance as a firearm from the Ruger Factory inventory collection.
The first such rifle to go on the block will be Bill Ruger’s 1982 prototype for the M77 Ultralight series of rifles. The rifle comes in its original box with all original accessories, and appears to be unfired. The box lid bears a shipping label “Attn:William B. Ruger, Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., Southport, CT” and also bears a handwritten notation – “Not a stock gun – Bill Ruger, Sr.” It is a caliber .243 Win. original tang safety Ruger model M77 Bolt Action Rifle, with a special lightweight 20” barrel and slim, lightweight stock. Unlike later Ruger M77 Mark II Ultralight rifles, it does not have a black forend tip.

All sales must be consummated via a federally licensed firearms retailer, who must perform all mandatory federal, state, and local background checks and paperwork; and the purchaser must be legally qualified to purchase and own the firearm. Not all firearms offered for these auctions may be sold in every state, due to local regulations. Bidders must be age 21 or older, and all sales are both “as is” and final. And, of course, supplies of these collectible bits of history from the Ruger inventory are limited...many to just a single example!
